Gwyneth Paltrow is everywhere. She’s been cast in an upcoming episode of Glee, her newest film opens in just weeks and her lifestyle website GOOP is a hit. What do listeners think of the actress-turned-entrepreneur-turned-musician? Last.fm Trends finds out.
Gwyneth’s fans have had a bit of a bump in the last seven days. After the Glee announcement, her plays at Last.fm have risen by about ten percent week-over-week. This is significant when you think about how much exposure the she and the show have received.
Overall, Paltrow has picked up 57,333 plays from 8,564 Last.fm listeners. Those aren’t great numbers, but that’s about what some of the bands – the fictional ones anyway – featured on this summer’s Scott Pilgrim soundtrack were doing ahead of the film’s release. The most popular of those, Sex Bob-Omb, has now pulled ahead to 378,790 plays from 29,436 listeners. That’s a huge number, and will be a challenge for Paltrow to pass.
Surprisingly though, her collaborations with Huey Lewis have the greatest impact among listeners. They’ve netted her some 85,434 plays from 14,198 listeners, many of whom are returning now to “Country Strong” to see how far she’s come in the intervening decade.
Stay tuned. Between her film, her TV guest spot and her planned CMA performance her scrobbles are sure to pop.
