Recently the students at Rutgers University were “treated” to an appearance from MTV reality star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi. Snooki was paid $32,000 for a Q&A session. Students have started a Facebook group to bring [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Bruce Springsteen[/lastfm] to help counteract the negative message the MTV “star” gave students.

Freshman Daniel Oliveto and junior Paul Tranquilli are spearheading the Facebook effort. Oliveto told the Asbury Park Press Snooki’s message to “study hard, but party harder,” was offensive and offered up another “gem of wisdom” – “when you’re tan, you feel better about yourself.

Parents were equally mad about the event. Snooki was paid nearly $10,000 more than the $23,466 that it costs annually in tuition fees and housing to send their kids to the Garden State university.

The students hope Springsteen would either perform or have a question-and-answer session similar to the sitdown Snooki gave last month.
