David Cook is a busy boy this week! A new video for “The Last Goodbye,” Hollywood appearances, a guest performance spot on “American Idol” all this week… and a 965 TIC Acoustic Cafe performance on June 8th!!

[photogallerylink id=37879 align=left]First, the winner of season 7 of American Idol premiered his new music video for his single “The Last Goodbye” yesterday. On the same day David Cook jetted to Hollywood, along with [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Carrie Underwood[/lastfm], to celebrate Idol’s creator Simon Fuller’s new “Hollywood Walk of Fame” star. Tonight, Cook will return to Idol for an on-stage cover performance of Simple Mind’s 1985 hit “Don’t You (Forget About Me).”

The music vid was directed by seasoned director Nigel Dick, who has rubbed creative shoulders with [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Britney Spears[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Oasis[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Nickelback[/lastfm] in the past.

The video is simple at first: David pensively creates his new single on a beach. But then there’s a twist of plot and a clever ending you don’t see coming. “The Last Goodbye” is the single for Cook’s sophomore album This Loud Morning, which drops on June 28.

David Fuller, the creator of American Idol, was honored with a Hollywood Walk of Fame star yesterday and an impressive lineup joined in the celebrations. Still, his performance of “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” will also be nostalgic for fans of the show. Cook’s recording of the song became the farewell tune for American Idol’s 10th season and has been played every week this season. The two night season finale will be on Fox at 7PM today.
