Looking for something new and exciting to do with your sweetheart this holiday weekend?  Sure hanging out by the pool or a cookout is a lot of fun, but let’s spice it up a little!  I have 5 great ideas from Yahoo Shine that you and your mate will love for this holiday weekend.  And if you have kids, you can include them on all 5!

#1.) Go to a Drive-In Movie: They’re hard to find these days, but if you have one near you, what an awesome time to hit up an old-school drive-in theater.  Closest one to Orlando is in Lakeland and you can click here to get details.  If that’s too far to travel, ask a friend to borrow their projector and set up a sheet on an outside wall and make your own drive-in.  We do that with our kids and let them invite friends over and they love it!

#2.) Get Your Adrenaline Pumping: Studies that show that being adventurous and getting your adrenaline pumping helps couples bond. So, if you’re a bit of a daredevil, try something like skydiving, bungee jumping, or whitewater rafting.

#3.) Go to a Baseball Game: It’s the classic summer date. The game might be slow at times, but the seats are close together, so it’s a perfect way to be close and have time to chat.  And if you have kids, they will absolutely love it!  Good news, I checked for you and the Rays have 5 games at home against the Indians Fri-Tues, check it out here.

#4.) Take a Last-Minute Trip: Sure, airline prices and gas prices are high, but you might be able to find a last-minute deal.  And even if you have to shell out some cash, spontaneity is a great way to keep your relationship fresh and exciting!  Something else fun to do is pack a beach bag, hit the coast, and try out a new beach you’ve never been to!

#5.) Remember Our Veterans: Of course we’re all excited we get a day off from work. But let’s not forget the real reason for the holiday, to honor the U.S. soldiers who died protecting our country.  So, if you see a man or woman in uniform, walk up to them, shake their hand, and tell them “thank you!”
