Our friends at MP3.com just recently relaunched their site. To celebrate, we’re helping them give away a free song each day.

When the [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Plain White T’s[/lastfm]  struck it big with their 2006 hit “Hey There Delilah,” it was both good and disruptive for the group. The song hit #1 on the charts of four countries, but, as an acoustic ballad, it was different from their usual style.

Do they try and adapt their style to what they think will bring them the most success, or stay true to their roots as a rock band? Fortunately, the Plain White T’s been able to handle their success with confidence and have returned with a solid follow up in Wonders Of The Younger, featuring the single “Boomerang.”

“Boomerang” displays the Plain White T’s strong sense of melody. A bouncing piano line carries the lively instrumentals, while singer Tom Higgenson tosses of line after line of catchy vocals as he sings about the girl he just can’t stay away from.

On one level “Boomerang” is a straightforward boy/ girl sort of song. The band, however, is clever enough keep things interesting by throwing in some quirky elements to shake it up. The result is a charming tune that strikes a good balance between the pop expected of them and the rock that is an important part of their identity.
