This weekend, Lifehouse stopped at the Black Horse Saloon in Hartford for a performance at the 96.5 TIC Acoustic Cafe, and shared three songs and some insight into their new album with their biggest fans in Connecticut.

The Acoustic Cafe with Lifehouse kicked off with the band performing their hit song “Somewhere in Between,” which is still one of lead singer Jason Wade’s favorites to play. “I wrote it when I was 16 or 17,” he recalled of the song. “I think I [first] played that at a coffee shop, and I was really, really nervous.”

Performing live is clearly not something that makes Wade nervous anymore, as he and the band belted out an acoustic version of the smash hit “You and Me,” before giving some insight into their new album Almeria, which they are currently promoting on their tour. “The album is called Almeria, which is a city in Spain where they filmed all of the epic Spaghetti Westerns,” Wade explained on stage. “For some reason unknown to us, this kind of undercurrent of that sound just made its way to half of the album– There’s like five tracks that have that Spaghetti Western undertone.”  The rest of the album stemmed from the band’s private jam sessions, which makes for an interesting balance of experimental and organic sound.

While this Fall’s tour is mainly focused on promoting their new single “Between the Raindrops”– the final song they performed at the Acoustic Cafe– Wade promises the band is planning a full concert tour in early 2013, most likely starting next March.  Will that tour include another performance on VH1’s “Best Cruise Ever!” which the band played in 2010 along with 3 Doors Down? “That was crazy,” recalled Wade. “[There were] A lot of drinks going aroudn that boat.” The cruise didn’t leave port in 2012, but many are hoping it will return next year, including Lifehouse. “We’re game,” Wade said. “We would have done it last year.”
