A case could be make that you’re not truly a celebrity until you’ve been swatted.

Swatting, for the uninitiated, is an elaborate prank that involves reporting an ongoing crime incident big enough to warrant an emergency response team.

Celebrity swatting hit critical mass in 2013, when a cavalcade of stars were victims of the hoax phenomenon to the point that the Los Angeles Police Department announced they would no longer be issuing press releases about the incidents. The idea being that the less attention these pranksters received, the less likely they were to instigate the very expensive incidents (a swatting event at the home of Ashton Kutcher reportedly cost L.A. taxpayers a cool $10,000).
