Tom Cruise is back, and so is a 90s classic in remake form… let’s get the details on what’s new at the movies this weekend!

Flatliners

A remake (or is it?) of the 1990 movie starring Julia Roberts, Kiefer Sutherland, and Kevin bacon, about a group of med students who bring themselves to near-death experiences to find out what happens when they die. The new movie stars Ellen Page and Diego Luna (Star Wars Rogue One). They’re calling it a remake, but Kiefer Sutherland is in this one, too… so is it really a sequel?

American Made

The new movie from Tom Cruise, this is based on the true story of a pilot who gets recruited to run covert operations for the CIA. It reunites Tom with director Doug Liman, who worked together a few years ago on the awesome sci fi movie Edge of Tomorrow.

Battle of the Sexes

Back in the 70s, one of the biggest events in the sports world was the tennis/ grudge match between Billy Jean King and Bobby Riggs. In this movie version, they are played by Emma Stone and Steve Carrell, and it is awesome! There’s a lot of really cool feminist messages as King and her fellow female tennis players went head-to-head with the boy’s club that was (is?) professional tennis. Emma Stone was crazy good in this movie… is it too early to say Oscars?
