Our friends at Mystic Aquarium are facing a great challenge and need our help. Inuk, one of the Beluga whales, has taken ill and requires very intensive medical attention. In order for him to receive the medication properly, he needs to be held by 15-20 people in the pool so that he remains calm and stationary. Volunteers will spend +/- 90 minutes in the water in a wet suit. If you would like to volunteer your services, please be in touch with Tracy Sullivan at tsullivan@mysticaquarium.org Shifts needed: 1:30am 6:30am 9:30am 1:30pm 5:30pm 9:30pm

This Valentine’s Day, rather than purchasing flowers for a loved one, please consider making a donation in their name to help a Labs4rescue dog!  Often times, while waiting to be adopted, Labs are placed in kennels with little or no toys, and sometimes they come to us with no leash or collar.  Your contribution will help to change this: show a Lab your love this Valentine’s Day!more

Team M.A.D. (Making A Difference) is a group of Connecticut-based people (all volunteers) looking to make a difference in our community.  Our goal is to help support local charities by raising money through participating in endurance events – i.e. The Hartford Marathon.  In 2010, Team M.A.D. will continue their pursuit to making a difference by selecting a new charity to be their beneficiary, plus, Team M.A.D. is seeking new members!  We train new runners along with hosting a variety of team building events throughout the season.more

Opal: This absolutely gorgeous girl is Opal. She is 5 years old, happy, energetic and oh so affectionate. She loves to snuggle and thinks she is a lap dog. When she’s not relaxing with you, she loves to run and play fetch and also enjoys a good car ride (with her ears flapping in the wind!) Opal knows “sit”, “down”, “wait” and “come”. and is very gentle when taking cookies from your hand. more

JAG, THE ULTIMATE CUDDLER!! Is it time for a nap or a snuggle on the couch? Then Jag will be there. While a little shy at first, he soon finds his way to a warm lap and makes it his home. Being a kitten, he is also quite playful and loves chasing his jingle bell toys. Jag was born outdoors to a stray mother, but was taken in with his mom and siblings and cared for by some very kind people. Now it is time for Jag and his siblings, Moufassa and Emmett to find their forever homes. more
