I'm Listening: Lauren Jauregui and the Importance of Self-Care

The “Expectations” singer on managing anxiety and depression

September 4, 2019

Lauren Jauregui has learned to make self-care a priority.

“Without that as a priority, everything else falters,” the singer explains in the preview above. Jauregui will be a part of a special two-hour commercial-free broadcast of I’m Listening on Sunday September 8, happening on all Entercom radio stations across the country at 7 AM local time.

Dedicated to ending the stigma of talking about mental health, I’m Listening will feature artists like Lauren, taking part in an in-depth conversation about mental health and suicide prevention.

“These are lessons that I’m learning, I’m saying them because I’ve been told this many times,” adds Jauregui, who has been very candid about her own struggles with mental health.

“To be honest, sometimes I have those moments and those epiphanies, and sometimes I really don’t. It just depends on how intense the attack is, of the anxiety,” she continues, talking about how she manages her own mental health. “Sometimes it’s also coupled with depression so that mentality is kind of hard to just get out of, when you’re kind of drowning in all the negativity that you see around you. It depends on what I’m going through to be honest.”

“Some days I’m really great and some days I’m really not. Sometimes the fans can see that and sometimes they can’t. That doesn’t change the way that I have to navigate and be present as much as possible.”

You can hear more from Lauren Jauregui and other artists, athletes, and medical professionals at 7 AM local time on Sunday September 8 on your favorite RADIO.COM station. Call-in live and join the conversation. Help end the stigma of talking about mental health.
